Informal area groups exist so those members can share their modelling experiences and run their stock on other lines. Members are given a further chnace to meet at G Rail, the Annual Convention and General Meeting, which is held at a central UK location and features working layouts, trade stands, and slide or video shows.
A quality journal is published quarterly by the society for its members.
The North West area group caters for members in a wide area of England ranging from Mid-North Wales in the west to Leeds/York in the east, The Lake District to the North and North Staffordshire to the south. We hold seven indoor meetings in a hall near Altrincham during the winter. The hall is easily reached from the M60 or M56 regular bus services pass nearby and there is a joint Metrolink/Network Rail station a short walk away.
At each of the indoor winter meetings, the groups' double track layout will be up and running. Please feel free to bring along your new acquisition to delight the other members! Sometimes there will be a second smaller layout running as well. On most occasions, we have at least three trade stands present so make sure your wallet is well filled. During the summer 12-13 garden meetings are held at locations throughout the region.
We publish four newsletters a year containing information and articles of local interest. You do not have to be a member of the northwest group but it is something that we encourage.
